Oiled Wildlife Care Network (OWCN) Core Training
February 19, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Note: These are the three “New Core” webinars updated in late 2016. If participants haven’t done so already, they will create a responder profile in OWCN’s online volunteer database prior to beginning the webinars. Participants will need to bring a laptop, tablet, or other web-enabled device to log into the database during the presentation (by request a few laptops will be available for use at the clinic).
A. OWCN Overview:
This interactive webinar provides a general overview of petroleum, its effects on wildlife, and the OWCN’s function and programs. It is one of the three “Core” webinars required before further training with the OWCN may be pursued.
B. Spill Basics:
This interactive webinar provides a glimpse into the spill response process, including a discussion of the Incident Command System, Wildlife Branch operations, and how responders fit into those operations. This is the second of the three “Core” webinars required before further training with the OWCN may be pursued.
C. Responder Involvement:
This interactive webinar provides an overview of how OWCN responders can remain active, maintain personal readiness, gain experience and training, assist during responses, and get involved with the OWCN during non-response times. This webinar is the third of the three “Core” webinars required before further training with the OWCN may be pursued.
Prerequisite: Volunteer Opportunities Orientation
